Rule 1: Don't be a Douchebag (aka Be Nice and Considerate).
No one wants to play with someone who's constantly getting into fights with other users or who is always a constant prick. Just be nice and try to get along with the other members. If you too have a problem with another member, talk to the staff and we'll do our best to handle the situation.
>Rule 1: amendment A: People with suits vs People without
If a user that doesn't have any suits (such as playing solely as Mai) and wants a suit for a future character, and there are any suits available, then they get higher priority over users that already have suits. That being said if there are no more suits available and somebody new wants a suit, then that's not happening. Once they are made they are lost to you so I'd suggest going original. Basically if there is any dispute concerning suits, then just talk to the staff and we'll get this all straightened out.
Rule 2: Grammar
If you're writing an RP post then please try write at least one paragraph, it gives the next person something to work with rather than just one line. This isn't that hard, just throw in some adjectives, adverbs, what your character is thinking. Also, use proper grammar and spelling, there's a "Spell Check" button underneath, click on that and it'll start correcting your spelling. Obviously it'll think words like "Kiva", "Sasword" and "IXA" are wrong so use your own judgement. One more thing, please write in third person (Karen picked up her bag) rather than first person (I picked up my bag).
>Rule 2: amendment A: Spacing Dialogue
You should have learned this in grade school already, but please separate your dialogue out. Don't be all like The young man looked up and said "Ah, Marina. Is something wrong?" "Oniichan, you were supposed to pick me up from school an hour ago! Were you working on another case?" "Marina, I need to keep the agency's reputation up. Besides, this case involved a Dopant."
When you do stuff like that, other people can't tell who's saying what. Please space it out, it's not hard.
Instead it should go a little something like this:
The young man looked up and said "Ah, Marina. Is something wrong?"
"Oniichan, you were supposed to pick me up from school an hour ago! Were you working on another case?"
"Marina, I need to keep the agency's reputation up. Besides, this case involved a Dopant."
Though saying things like he said or she yelled or the man roared helps too.
>Rule 2: amendment B: No Script Writing
This is a roleplay not a High school Drama class.
Don't start things off with "The scene opens to an office of a detective agency.." or "The scene changes to a billiards hall on the other side of town."
Or have dialogue formatted like "Jack (looks at Mary and blushes): Hi, my name is Jack.."
Or have stage directions or any that other crap. It's annoying.
If you want to write a script, then go write a script on Microsoft Word. This just isn't the place to do so.
Rule 3: RP Properly
In other words don't go around God-Modding everything, read the last posts and then post accordingly, don't force other players to do something drastic without PMing them to see if it's okay.
>Rule 3, amendment A: Auto-Hitting
Auto-hitting should be kept to a minimum if used at all. It's better not to use it, for the sake of a fair fight in which both sides can react. Just don't abuse it, such as making every attack miss your character. If you and who you're playing with have a deal or something, go ahead and auto-hit - but only if, as said, you have a deal in place, or something.
>Rule 3: amendment B: Power Playing
Power playing is when you control someone else's character, as well as your own, without the other person's permission. An example would be "Jack (played by Player A) took Linda's hand (Player B) and led her down the corridor before shoving her into a cell and locking the door." Please don't do something like this unless you're sure the other person is okay with it.
>Rule 3: amendment C: Double Posting
No double/triple/multiple in a row posting in the RP section. Just edit your first post.
>Rule 3: amendment D: Thread Derailment
Please refrain from taking an established thread or any thread that's not your own in a completely different direction then intended unless you ask the thread's original poster first. If an open thread has already passed the three pages mark and you want to join in, please ask if it's okay first.
>Rule 3: amendment E: Anachronistic Order
Unlike most forum roleplays, we play in anachronistic order - which means that we can have the same character active in several different threads at the same time. It is up to the player of said character to keep their own personal timeline in check. Don't sweat things like what month or season it is, but don't just make the thread take place ten or so years in the past or future (unless there's time travel involved), that's what the Flashback board is for.
Rule 4: Listen to the Staff
We're in charge for a reason, if you're disobeying any of the rules then we will punish you for it. Also, any moderator found abusing their powers in any way, shape or form, is in serious trouble.
Talk to one of them if you have any questions or concerns.
>Rule 4: amendment A: Banning
We the staff reserve the to ban any users caught breaking any of our rules, depending on the severity of your actions you may just receive warning telling you to change your ways. Once banned, there is no coming back.
Rule 5: Keep it PG-13
For real, don't make it too violent or have very detailed sex. There might be kids watching. I'm fine with some cursing, but others may not be so don't be so excessive about it.
Rule 6: Characters
You are allowed more than one character but the rule is your last character must have at least 30 posts under their belt, and have taken part (or be taking part) in one RP. Not one or the other, both. Also, if you do make a new character don't just abandon your old ones, you are allowed to kill your character off if you want to. Please register a separate account for each character. There isn't a limit on how many characters you can, but it's recommended you don't make a whole lot. You're not only taking suits away from other members, but do you really need all those characters?
>Rule 7: Starting Out
All players are allowed one character from the start, and then after that they must hit 30 posts on their existing character (see Rule 6).
>Rule 7, amendment A: Satellite characters
If you're making a group or something similar that requires more than one person, you can have multiple characters on the same account. It has to make sense though, don't just add random characters to an already existing account. They can be brothers, sisters, lovers, archenemies, teammates, but don't add them if the two or more characters are not related in anyway.
>Rule 7: amendment B: No Mary Sues!
Nobody is perfect in real life and same should be said of your character. They should have flaws, desires, short comings, imperfections. Sure your character could impossibly unrealistic and able to do things no ordinary person could, but that doesn't mean they should be a god that always gets everything they're way, always defeats their enemies, and never breaks a nail while doing so.
Rule 8: Face Claims
There is one use of each celebrity claim only, unless there is another circumstance (such as the Mai/Priestess of Fate thing).
Rule 9: No Fandom Crossing
Self explanatory, canon characters only, or original characters who fit in the world.
Rule 10: Leaving
If you're gone for more than a month without telling us, and you're playing a canon character then we can "repossess" said character. If you return and no one's claimed it then you can keep playing. Otherwise? Tough.
Rule 11: Have Fun!
This is the most important rule, enjoy yourself!
